Roger has been involved in New Zealand's financial and investment markets since 1981, being at the forefront of the changes and the development of the foreign exchange and interest rate markets as a manager and adviser.
He is regarded as one of New Zealand's leading professional advisers in his specialist area of treasury management for organisations at risk to market exchange rate and interest rate movements. Roger is a director and 33% shareholder in a leading treasury consultancy business that provides advisory services on a one-off project and retainer basis to companies in New Zealand, Australia and SE Asia.
Roger's experience and understanding of international and local financial/investment markets is centred on interpreting, communicating and advising complex matters in a straight forward and clear manner for recipients needing to make financial risk management and investment decisions.
Roger is also well known as a commentator on business, markets and economic affairs through his daily radio slot on the Mike Hosking Breakfast show on Newstalk ZB. Roger has delivered this service every business-day for over 16 years as it keeps his own finger on the market pulse.
He hails from a South Island farming community and worked in South Africa, London and Amsterdam before returning to New Zealand to commence his career in banking and finance.
Roger is Board Chairman of specialist fund manager Trust Investments Management Limited, Board Chairman of Pie Funds Management Limited, a Trustee/Board Member of the National Provident Fund and is on the Advisory Board of the New Zealand Government Debt Management Office.
